Trainee Clockmaker – Job Vacancy

Time Assured is a small friendly company based in Mansfield.

We specialise in the service, conservation, repair and occasionally the installation of new Church and Public clocks. These are the larger clocks than adorn the outside of public buildings.

Although we have both an office and a workshop in Mansfield, most of the work will take place on our customers’ sites.

Our clients are based in England and Wales.

Although initially the successful candidate they will shadow and travel with and be trained by one of our experienced clockmakers. Eventually they will be equipped with a Company Van

The salary package will include pension and bonus and will rise at annual reviews as the apprentices skill set increases.

The apprentice will have a clean driving licence or be learning to drive.

Most importantly they must show a willingness to learn and understand and through that, develop a problem-solving mentality.

Ideally, they should be looking to progress in mechanical and electrical engineering.

Work on a range of clocks from 250 years old through to modern electric clocks and equipment requiring both mechanical and electronic knowledge.
The apprentice will also become involved in Gilding and Painting usually when involved with dial restorations.

There will also be some degree of administration work, undertaking inspections and preparing quoting for work.

We run a web-based information system and knowledge of word and excel would also be beneficial.
