Night Silencing
Night Silencing is a means of controlling the striking or chiming of a mechanical turret Clock. Although we all love to hear the hour strike or the quarter chiming of our local clock, this can be unwelcome particularly during the night. Night Silencing units can be fitted to most mechanical turret clocks. They consist of an actuator unit which pulls off the hammers away from the bells during certain specified periods. The clock mechanism continues in its normal way, but the hammers are prevented from striking the bells. The actuator unit is controlled by a time switch that can be programmed to operate at selected times.
If you choose to fit Night Silencing, a suitable source of mains electricity will be required adjacent to where the unit is to be fitted.
