Dial Restoration – Northampton Guildhall

Earlier this year, we were asked to undertake the Dial Restoration of the Clock at Northampton Guildhall. This was part of a much larger project to refurbish the building.
The dial is approximately two metres in diameter and made of copper and cast iron and glazed with perspex or glass. We were asked to restore the frame of the dial, and gild it with English 231/2 carat double thickness gold leaf. The gilding will be applied to the hands, numerals and minute marks.
