St Andrews Church, Halton Holgate Dial Restoration

During May 2012 we were asked to restore the Clock Dial at St Andrew’s Church in Halton Holgate, Lincolnshire. The Church is undergoing a major restoration project and took advantage of the scaffolding that was in place to restore the Dial as part of the project.
The Dial is made of flat copper with a recessed centre and wooden hands. Prior to the restoration, the Dial was well weathered as can be seen from the images in the project gallery.
The adjacent photographs show the Dial during the restoration process. The left photograph is after the application of a special protective primer. The photograph on the right shows the marking out of the numerals.
The finished Dial can be seen in the gallery below. The original colour scheme had been rigidly adhered to.
